How do you safely dispose of prescription drugs? Today’s Green Minute answers that question.

One way to dispose safely of prescription drugs is by participating in the Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA) National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day on Saturday, April 27, 2013 from 10:00am to 2:00pm.

This is a great opportunity for those who missed the previous events, or who have subsequently accumulated unwanted, unused prescription drugs, to safely dispose of those medications.

The National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day aims to provide a safe, convenient, and responsible means of disposal, while also educating the general public about the potential for abuse of these medications.

To find the closest drop-off site in your community, visit the following National Takeback Initiative Collection Site Search Database. All you need to do is input your zip code.

So you may ask, why is this important? Check out the following CBS News report on the topic that was aired a few years ago, describing the harmful effects of prescription drugs in our nation’s water supply.

If these drugs are so dangerous what business do we have putting them into our bodies? The inquiring mind would like to know! If a few of these pills can pollute the water supply (billions of gallons of water) then imagine what they do to you! I did hear from an official source that birth control pills are a major pollution issue all over the country and now found to pollute all of our water, but that problem is self limiting. Pretty soon everything will be female, and the need for the pills will go away. In the meantime, our politicians don’t want to address that issue because children can be subject to paternity testing, and most wives are not as cooperative as Hillary.
