Sun Signs: Scorpio

Jun 21, 14 Sun Signs: Scorpio

Moving on in the series of zodiac signs, we come to the eighth sign, the Scorpio. As Linda Goodman’s Blog identifies, those born from October 24 to November 22 are considered Scorpios. This sign is symbolized by none other than the Scorpion, and no other sign would be more appropriate. The Scorpio is quick to anger and quick to retreat and refresh. Their sting hurts also because they speak the truth even if the truth is painful. They simply do not lie nor do they say things to be mean, but if one asks a Scorpion for their opinion, the Scorpion will give it honestly and clearly. And they are intense.

In fact, Astrology.com uses three specific words to describe the intensity of the Scorpio: determined, passionate, and motivated. Of these, determined most relates to the Scorpion although the passion certainly is a strong ruling force for this sign. Once a Scorpio sets her mind to some goal, whether that goal is personal, professional, or otherwise, the Scorpio will not stop until she exceeds her goal. Every time a Scorpio sets a goal, she achieves it. Partially, this is because the Scorpio enjoys competition even within herself.

The other reason that the Scorpio is so determined and successful in her determination is her curiosity. As Astrology.com shows, “The curiosity of Scorpios is immeasurable, which may be why they are such adept investigators. These folks love to probe and know how to get to the bottom of things. The fact that they have a keen sense of intuition certainly helps.” A Scorpio will engage in a conversation to get to the truth of some question or idea. They are curious but cautious and will kill rather than be killed, so to speak, just like Scorpion.

Though the Scorpio is admired for her determination and motivation, she is also sometimes seen as strong willed to the point of being seen as overly stubborn. Their determination can almost be overbearing to others. But the Scorpion means no harm or ill toward others. She is just determined and in control of her own future.

It is no surprise that the Scorpio is a Fixed Quality. As I wrote about earlier in this series, the Fixed signs are steady and self-reliant, and most definitely stubborn. All Fixed signs are focused, but none so much as the Scorpio. For this sign, there is no room for gray. Life is simple, black and white, and clear.

The Element connected to the Scorpio is Water, and though that may seem bizarre, it really is not. Most Water elements are fluid and rolling like the waves and currents, but the Scorpio more represents the idea of still waters run deep according to Astrology.com. In other words, they are emotional and intuitive but not as prone to showing such as their other Water compatriots. They are deep and secretive.

All this contributes to their passion. The Scorpio is passionate about everything in her life, including her sexuality. Emotions and love and connection are important to the Scorpio even if she is quiet about them.

The Scorpio has the reputation of being stubborn, but she would prefer strong-willed and focused. Passionate and determined, not much stops the Scorpio. And we should never forget that.
