Sun Signs: Aquarius
We are quickly wrapping up the series on the zodiac. Right now, we have the penultimate sign of the series: Aquarius. According to Linda Goodman, anyone born from January 21through to February 19 is an Aquarius. This sign is the sign of change. It is symbolically represented by the Water Bearer, and what a perfect symbol for an Aquarian. Water brings growth, represents rebirth and renewal, and is at the core of all life, and so as agents of change, of course the Water Bearer represents the Aquarius men and women.
As Astrology.com shows, Aquarians are “humanitarian, philanthropic, and keenly interested in making the world a better place. Along those lines, they’d like to make the world work better, which is why they focus much of their energy on our social institutions and how they work (or don’t work). Aquarians are visionaries, progressive souls who love to spend time thinking about how things can get better. They are also quick to engage others in this process, which is why they have so many friends and acquaintances. Making the world a better place is a collaborative effort for Aquarians.” Knowing all of this, it is no wonder that the 1960s and 70s were called the Age of Aquarius. With all that love and change and relationships, what else could it be called?
The Aquarius people are involved in change and want to make everything better, which is good; however, at times they can be impatient especially with those who disagree with their positions. An Aquarian will come up with great ways to solve problems and make life better, but they do not have much patience for those who think otherwise.
This pairs well with the fact that the sign of Aquarius is a Fixed Quality sign, which means that they hold steadfast to their positions, beliefs, and actions. As I wrote about Qualities, “Fixed Qualities focus more on steadiness…They love to get the job done and love those who will help them do it.” That steadiness, though, often manifests as stubbornness. As much as the Aquarius focuses on change and making the world a better place, they are often stubborn in their own beliefs, methods, and choices.
If this seems contradictory and confusing, it really is not when we consider that the Aquarius may be a Fixed Quality sign, but it is also an Air Element sign. As I wrote, Air Elements sometimes are wishy-washy and blow with the wind. They are curious and perceptive, but also passionate, and that passion can sometimes affect them.
All in all, though, any Aquarius will be a social mover and shaker, specifically in terms of needed social change. When they see inequality or inefficiency, when they see wrong, the Aquarians will start to activate for change. Sure, they may be fixed in how to go about that, but often what is more important is making things right and making the world a better place. Astrology.com identifies the Aquarius sign as the trailblazers. The Water Bearer wants renewal and growth, and that is what they will seek with all their might.
