Pixar Teases New Animated Film
Pixar: you know ’em, you love ’em (or at least your kids do) and whenever a beloved company such as this has something to say, the world is all ears. Recently, at the D23 Expo (which is like Disney’s big fan event where all things Mickey Mouse come together in one big bash), John Lasseter announced Pixar’s 2015 feature flick, Inside Out, which will arrive after Finding Dory & The Good Dinosaur.
The project will be under the creative lead of the director of Up and Monsters Inc., Pete Docter, and, judging by his track record, this is looking to turn out to be another hit for the company.
The story features a young girl named Riley who is trying to get adjusted with her new life in San Francisco (trust me, I don’t blame her). The twist here is the fact that from what I’ve just told you, you’d think San Francisco is the setting. That may be partially true, as the majority of the flick takes place in Riley’s mind. In her mind, she faces her emotions, which are personified as five unique characters.
Fear (voiced by Bill Hader), Joy (Voiced by Amy Poehler), Sadness (voiced by Phyllis Smith), Disgust (voiced by Mindy Kaling) and finally Anger (voiced by Lewis Black) makes up the supporting cast of characters for the upcoming sure shot.  The conflict of the film starts when the two emotions, Sadness and Joy are “kicked out into the far reaches of the mind” and the two must journey back to their respective spots in Riley head. Over the course of this journey, the two characters travel across notable memories from Riley’s past and even onwards to her imagination, which looks more like Disneyland (which I’m sure all children’s imagination resembles).
Since the two emotions are on an (should I do it?) emotional journey, Riley only has access to her remaining feelings such as fear, disgust and anger (which doesn’t make for the greatest of combinations). As for Riley’s parents, they have their own emotional headquarters that reflect that of its host, like her Dad which has a space squadron military base type brain that constantly tells him to make decisions while her Mom emotions constantly remind of the life she could’ve had if she didn’t settle down.
I’m sure this is going to be a quirky outing for audiences and another win for Disney… Well, unless a new Despicable Me doesn’t hit theaters during that time frame (I’m looking at you Lone Ranger), but it should be business as usual at the box office.
It seems that Pixar has alot on its plate for the next few years to come. With the arrival of Finding Dory, The Good Dinosaur and now Inside Out, the company should have a pretty decent profit margin in the time to come.
The movie is due out June 15th, 2015, so mark your calendars folks.
Now if only Disney would be more generous sharing info to us about that new Star Wars flick.
That would be cool… really, it would.
