From our friends, and in cooperation with Top Speed.

From coast to coast, drivers with high performance vehicles cruise the roads. In some instances, breaking the speed limit on a regular basis, thinking, “well, I have a fast car, they won’t be able to catch me.”

In Michigan, that thinking might change with the 2014 Dodge Charger Pursuit. Results from the Michigan State Police’s (MSP) annual evaluation of police vehicles, established that the Charger Pursuit was the fastest all-wheel-drive (AWD) police car. The Pursuit is also the fastest rear-wheel-drive (RWD) police vehicle. The test was performed at the Grattan Raceway in Belding, Michigan.

The Grattan Raceway is a two-mile road course with a 3,200-foot straightaway, a 160-degree hairpin turn, and has been considered one of the finest courses in America.

Making an average lap of 1:34.75, with the fastest lap being 1:33.85, it became the only AWD vehicle to dip below a time of 1:34. In 2012, a RWD Pursuit, set a record lap of 1:33.70. The 2014 Dodge Charger Pursuit all-wheel-drive will be offered to law enforcement in the spring of 2014.

The Pursuit has two engine options, a V-6 and a V-8. The eight-cylinder option will be offered in both RWD and AWD versions.

The V-6 option has 292 hp, 260 pound-feet of torque, and offers E-85 flex fuel. (The E-85 is an 85 percent ethanol, 15 percent gasoline blend.) The V-8 option is a 5.7-liter HEMI pushing out 370 hp, and 390 pound-feet of torque and does 0-60 in less than six seconds and 60-0 in less than 127 feet.

The new AWD version of the Pursuit offers a segment-exclusive transfer case, allowing the vehicle to switch from RWD to AWD automatically when needed. It has improved braking with larger front rotors, and increased front and rear caliper swept area. Other upgrades to the Pursuit include a revised rear fascia, robust exhaust tips, camber link rear suspension, high durability fuel pump, and rear-park assist.

In a press release Peter Grady, Vice President of Network Development and Fleet, Chrysler Group LLC stated, “with the record-holding rear-wheel drive Dodge Charger Pursuit and now the fastest-ever recorded all-wheel drive model, Chrysler Group offers those who protect and serve us with the best pursuit-rated sedans in the business, and with the only test cars achieving lap times less than 1:34, Dodge Charger Pursuit highlights the segment’s best combination of world-class technology, acceleration, braking, handling and dynamics.”

Although the Pursuit isn’t the fastest vehicle on the road, with the combination of handling, braking, and performance, it just might make many of the would-be speeders think twice.

Have you ever considered about adding a little
bit more than just your articles? I mean, what you
say is important and all. Nevertheless imagine if
you added some great images or videos to give your posts more,
“pop”! Your content is excellent but with pics and clips, this site could definitely be one of the greatest in its field.

    Very good blog!
