March’s Gaming Lineup (Part 2)
This post is a direct continuation of a previous post. You can read the first part here.
This time we’re going over a rather assorted bunch of games. One features a chalk-white angry dude, one features a yellow brick-man, and the last features some good old redneck survivors.
God of War: Ascension is the seventh title in Sony’s God of War series. This game is a prequel to the whole series, and shows how Kratos became the angry, god-killing, vengeful beast that he’s known to be. It depicts Kratos’ rebellion against Ares, who forced Kratos to kill his own wife and child. In order to break ties with Ares, Kratos must defeat the three furies, Alecto, Maegaera, and Tisiphone. This game follows the same gory hack-n-slash gameplay that fans of the series love. Just like the previous games, Ascension will also feature quicktime events, puzzle solving, and platforming elements. This will also be the first God of War game to feature multiplayer, with players controlling champions under the allegiance of Ares, Hades, Zeus, or Poseidon. Your choice of god effects your champion’s playstyle and abilities. The game is to feature several multiplayer modes, such as Favor of the Gods. This is basically a team deathmatch to reach a certain score by killing the other team or performing other small objectives like opening chests and collecting treasures. God of War: Ascension and all of its mythical glory will hit the shelves in the US on March 12, 2013 for Playstation 3.
Lego City: Undercover is a new, kid-friendly title in the LEGO series by TT Fusion. In this Wii U exclusive, you take the role of Chase McCain, a cop in a crime-infested city. Chase is a supercop who can perform many acrobatic feats like swinging across poles and jumping off walls. He also has a number of disguises that grant him special abilities. For example, his robber disguise gives him the power to easily break locks. Chase also can pilot almost any type of vehicle in the world. Just like any LEGO game, there are piles of blocks around also that players can build to create new objects that may help them progress in the game. This game uses the Wii U GamePad in several ways, such as a scanner to detect criminals. This game is basically reverse Grand Theft Auto, where you play the cop that stops various crimes in an open world setting. For a LEGO game, especially a Wii U game, it has received surprisingly high anticipation ratings. Lego City: Undercover is set to be released in the U.S. on March 18, 2013 for the Wii U.
The Walking Dead: Survival Instinct is a new game by Terminal Reality. It takes place as a prequel in the world of AMC’s The Walking Dead TV show. Players control Daryl Dixon as he and his brother Merle fight off the walker horde and trek across Georgia. Food and weaponry will be scarce, and survivors are scattered across the map for players to meet. Some may help you survive, while others may be hostile from the start. You must channel your inner survivor to make it out of the zombie apocalypse alive by managing your fuel and food, conserving your ammo, and keeping your friends alive. While there’s not much to say about this game, the idea of a real zombie survival console game is very appealing, and it’s about one of the greatest shows on TV today. Survival Instinct releases on March 19, 2013 in the U.S. for Xbox 360, PS3, Wii U, and PC.
