Japanese Porn For Girls

May 17, 14 Japanese Porn For Girls

With good reason, we tend to think of pornography as being a world controlled by men, where women may be the focus of the on-screen action but very little else. In Japan, however, porn made by women for women is becoming increasingly popular, as the female market for adult movies grows.

Most pornography is traditionally aimed at men, and the standard Japanese stuff certainly has fallen into that category. The girls are submissive, the men very much having their way. Even for women who do want to watch porn, this is unlikely to be the kind of thing they would go for. But that is not to say that with the right approach, pornography can’t be unappealing to women. The trick is quite simple: make porn a little more like actual sex. Something that involves some consideration, affection and tenderness. Add to that a smoking hot male actor who gets more camera time than the girl, and women will be shelling out their hard earned cash quicker than you can say “tell the octopus we don’t need him this week.”

The BBC’s Newsnight program reported on the subject, and on two actors. The first is Shoko Nakano, the female star of one such movie. Shoko says that the sex is more like the kind she would have at home. The second is Ittetsu Suzuki, the male star who, despite modestly saying that he was just in the right place at the right time, is hugely popular; he does regular promotional meet and greets with hundreds of screaming fans. The movie also has a female director, a film school graduate. She says that she believes the increasing numbers of Japanese women turning to adult movies can be partly explained by men failing to attend to their sexual needs. The sex in the movies may be a little more realistic than that in the versions aimed at men, then, but even in real life men are not being quite as considerate as they should (stay tuned for more exclusive revelations).

I wrote a blog a while ago about how many young Japanese people are not having sex, dating, or getting into relationships at all, due in part to the desire to withdraw from the pressures of cultural tradition such as marriage and family, and the distractions of electronic alternatives to passing the time with real romance. So while men may not be entirely meeting the needs of their partners, it is also the case that Japanese women may be turning to porn because they have no partner at all.

As for the Japanese porn industry, before I do the ironically counter-feminist thing of assuming that women are poor little delicate victims being taken advantage of by men, I should point out that even before the advent of adult movies for girls, making adult movies was not only a place for girls who were being downtrodden. Japan Today did an article on what happens to some of the many Japanese girls who are at some point involved in adult movies (some estimates say that as many as 1 in 200 girls in Japan has appeared in an adult movie, such is the scale of the industry), after they retire. It claims that they miss the attention, glamor and wealth that comes with being an adult actress, and while many do slip into normal life, others find that they still crave the fame and adoration. Shoko Nakano says that she feels good to think of the devotion she receives.

Happily, it seems that in the future, the girls will be able to find a little stardom with some power and control attached, too.
