International Weather Outlook: August 15, 2013

Weather Forecast for North America on August 15, 2013
Showers will extend over Greenland from a low pressure area near Iceland. Showers and thunderstorms associated with a frontal boundary will push over the east coast, and extend into the southeast and Gulf Coast. A cold front moving through the Plains will bring showers and thunderstorm to the area.
***Residents along the northern Gulf of Mexico need to be on alert for a potential tropical system making landfall this weekend.
Cold air in place over Greenland will halter temps into the 30’s, while the 50’s and 60’s will dominate the weather over eastern Canada along with the northeast US. Temps will be in the 80’s along the Gulf Coast with heavy rainfall. Temps will be in the 90’s over a good portion of the Rockies and the southwest, while the 80’s will be over most of the northwest US.
Weather Forecast for South America on August 15, 2013
Partly cloudy skies will extend from Peru to Brazil, while a strong cold front will bring rain and snow showers to southern Chile and Argentina again. Northeast Brazil will be in the 80’s, cooling to the 70’s for Peru and Northern Argentina, further cooling to the 50’s over northern Chile and the 30’s for both southern Argentina and southern Chile.
Weather Forecast for Europe and the Middle East on August 15, 2013
Partly cloudy skies will prevail from England to Moscow, while sunny skies will dominate most of Northern Europe and also from Spain to Italy. The Middle East will be hot and dry again. Western Europe and northern Europe will see temps in the 70’s, while the remainder of Europe will be warm with temps in the 80’s and 90’s; a few 100’s could hit southern Spain as well. The Middle East will be in the 100-110 range again.
Weather Forecast for Africa and the Cape Verde and Madagascar Islands on August 15, 2013
Northern Africa will see partly cloudy skies, while rain showers will be over east central Africa and partly cloudy skies will also be found over the Cape Verde Islands and Madagascar. The majority of Africa will be in the 70’s and 80’s, while southern Africa will be in the 50’s to 60’s.
Weather Forecast for Southeast Asia on August 15, 2013
The southwest monsoonal rains will again impact the region with enhanced showers and thunderstorm activity; heavy rainfall will be possible from India to Sri Lanka and eastward into Singapore. Afternoon showers and thunderstorms will be possible over Malaysia and into Thailand. The region will be hot again with temps in the upper 80’s to mid-90’s for the entire region.
Weather Forecast for Eastern Asia and the island of (Guam) on August 15, 2013
A frontal boundary will stretch from northeast Russia all the way southward into China and the Korea’s. This frontal boundary will slowly push towards Japan, as well bringing showers and thunderstorms to the area. Northern Russia will see temps in the 60’s while northern Japan will be in the 70’s, warming to the 80’s and 90’s across Eastern China, the Korea’s and Japan. There could be even a few 100’s in all of these regions. Hong Kong will be in the 80’s with extensive rainfall, while Manila will be in the lower 90’s and Guam will be in the lower 80’s.
Weather Forecast for the Island of (New Zealand) and Australia for August 15, 2013
Two frontal boundaries will be moving through the region. The first will bring showers to southwest Australia to include Perth; the second will impact southeast Australia and New Zealand to include Sydney and also Auckland. Northwest Australia will be in the 70’s, while southwest Australia will hit the 60’s and southeast Australia will be in the 50’s.
