Happy Tree Climbers? Humongous Talking Crickets? Hookers Take Cash?
No one really knows the meaning of the three letters that make up the prominent smartphone producer named HTC. All we know is that they make some pretty sweet phones and they look gorgeous. The company made big noise among consumers at the beginning of the Android OS era; but since then, their shares in the market have dwindled and dwindled to the point where they are barely a part of the conversation.
Could this be the work of Samsung and their Galaxy phone ultimately stealing the hearts of Android Users across the globe? Or maybe their current situation is by their own hands by not having a recent marketing campaign that hit it big with consumers and keeping them in the race?
However, they made it to this point is history and they are not wasting any energy by pointing the finger at their R&D department. No, the folks at HTC have decided to look at the past, put a microscope on their mistakes, change them and then hit the market hard with a campaign that will turn more than a few heads.
What is the name of this campaign that will change their current situation around? Ironically the ad campaign is called “Here’s To Change” (which makes the acronym HTC, because its starts with an H and then goes to the… whatever, you get it). The brand is trying to reinvent itself and get you, the consumer, to get familiar with its name again, which isn’t a bad move.
HTC is on the road to redemption and trying come back to the game swinging. To do that they are bringing a special guest along for the ride who’s been there and done that. Mr. Robert Downey, Jr. himself will be at the front lines alongside HTC for the battle of the market share.
Okay, if you have been living under a rock since 2008 I’ll fill you in. Robert Downey, Jr. kicked a major drug addiction and being nowhere near anyone’s celebrity radar to become Iron Man, which then strung out into a huge line of successful sequels and cameos, and also shot him back to the A-list.
How exactly did that happen? No one knows, but you can bet HTC is currently interrogating him at this very moment in time. Which brand of toothpaste does he use every morning? What gods does he pray to? What side of the bed does he sleep on?
You can bet and believe they are going every bit of comeback worthy info from the Actor.
On a more serious note, Engadget reports that RDJ is linked into a two-year contract with the smartphone producer and which he will be giving his “creative input” into their oncoming devices and will also (and more importantly) star in their various string of ads over 24 to 36 months and will divided into three phases where Downey and his supporting cast will be saying random words that start with the letters H, T and C (this should be fun).
The future is now people and it is time for change. Let the games begin!
