Dog Keeps Throwing Up
Okay, so your dog does not just throw up every once in a while. Your dog keeps throwing up on a regular basis. He clearly is not just regurgitating food that he ate too fast or that got stuck in his esophagus. Your pup definitely is showing signs of some sort of medical issue. Unfortunately, though, the list of possible causes is long and complicated.
I called my personal vet to get some advice on what to do if my dog keeps throwing up, and he said simply, “Get your dog here.” With the prevalence and convenience of the internet, though, many people often go directly to the web for advice. When I did a quick search for “dog keeps throwing up,” the first page on Google consisted of nothing but websites where you can ask anything and anyone can answer.
This is definitely scary because the general public does not consist of experts or experienced professionals who can give such advice. If your dog keeps throwing up, and he is not simply regurgitating food or experiencing an isolated issue of an irritated stomach, then something is possibly seriously wrong. When a dog keeps throwing up, something must be done.
PetMD listed several possible causes to the constant vomiting including ulcers, cancer, kidney or liver failure, diseases, and bladder rupture. The list included many other issues of concern that require a trained professional’s advice. You cannot find a solution on the internet. WebMD’s pet site notes that vomiting becomes a serious issue when a dog throws up more than once per a day, vomits daily, has projectile vomit, has blood in it, experiences diarrhea in addition to the vomiting, is lethargic, vomits despite not eating, or has abdominal bloating.
If your dog experiences any of these, call your vet. When your dog keeps throwing up, it is no different than when people keep throwing up. We know something is attacking our systems when we keep throwing up, so why wouldn’t it be the same with dogs? Our pets have medical needs too, and to just rely on what any joe blow says on any old website is dangerous to their health.
We love our pets, right? They are part of the family, right? So why wouldn’t we call our vets when the dog keeps throwing up. To not call is irresponsible and, frankly, unkind. Our dogs cannot tell us what ails them, so we must trust the pet professionals to help us help our dogs. So call the vet if the dog keeps throwing up.
