Hello! Here’s what happened in the wonderful world of music yesterday, January 3, 2013.

Producer Jamie xx has released a new remix of Sunsets, by the band The xx.

Rapper Big Boi performed on The Late Show with David Letterman.

And rapper Common made an appearance on Late with Jimmy Fallon.

Kendrick Lamar made another move towards world domination with a video for his track “Backseat Freestyle”.

The mercurial rap talent Blu has released an arty new video for his track “Amnesia”.

Patti Page, pop superstar of the 1950’s, has tragically died. The story is here at NPR.

Rapper Big Boi will join his OutKast buddy Andre 3000 on the Frank Ocean track “Pink Matter”. The story is here at The Line of Best Fit.

Dave Grohl generates one of the most intriguing headlines of the day by saying he wants to create a super group with Trent Reznor and Stevie Nicks. The story is again at The Line of Best Fit.

I am jumping firmly on the Ryan Hemsworth bandwagon. Like Porter Robinson before him, this young talent is making a name for himself, not because he brings a new sound to the scene, but because he melds all of his influences into singular but eclectic projects.

He released a sleepy new video for his song “Colour and Movement”.

In some of the biggest news of the day, Skrillex follows up yesterday’s music video release with a surprise EP release, titled “Leaving”. You can stream it over at Stereogum.

Louisiana Rapper Joe Fresh has released a new mixtape. It’s available to download and stream over at Oh So Fresh! Music.

Ty Segall has joined together with guitarist Charlie Mootheart and created a new band called Fuzz. Today they released two new tracks. You listen to them here and here.
