Hello there! Here’s what happened in the world of music on January 2nd, 2013.

Wale put on a performance at the Filmore Theater in Silver Springs, MD. Video from the show can be found here at 2dopeboyz.

Up and coming rapper A$AP Rocky and Trinidad James performed at a New York show for New Year’s eve. 2dopeboyz has footage of that as well.

And while that was going on, Rick Ross was having a fun time bringing in the New Year in the Bahamas.

Rapper Young Scooter has released a new mixtape.

There were a ton of new tracks and singles debuted today!

Local Natives have debuted a new track called “Heavy Feet” on LA’s KCRW. Their new record “Hummingbirds” is out January 29th. Here’s the video.

Electro acts Showtek and Bassjackers have come together for a new single called “Hey!” It’s available for stream over at TheMusicNinja

New albums:

You can stream the new EP from trip-hoppers Blue Sky Black Death and Deniro Farrar, titled “Cliff of Death” at their bandcamp page.

This set by DJ Shadow was controversially cut short at a show in South Beach, Miami, because “it wasn’t appropriate for the venue”. Shots have since been fired, and apologies made, and DJ Shadow has uploaded the entire set for your enjoyment on his Soundcloud

The film This Is 40, by Judd Apatow and set with characters in the music industry is in theaters now.

Here are two deleted scenes from the film, with alternative act Eels and Green Day star Billie Joe Armstrong.

Apparently a man who won the lottery is planning to open a new music venue with his winnings.

It seems that Jay-Z will be working with Prince and Lady Gaga to score the new film adaptation of The Great Gatsby.

Pop-punk band Against Me! has hired a new drummer.

Rapper J. Cole has delayed the release of his upcoming sophomore LP, Born Sinners. It is being pushed back from its original release date of January 28th to sometime later in the year.
