Daily Round-Up For September 9, 2013
Hey music lovers! Welcome to the Daily Round-Up, redOrbit’s collection of the latest music news of the day. Let’s get started.
Eminem is always good for an interesting headline or story, and this weekend was no exception. He contributed an absolutely bizarre interview to the crew over at ESPN, during the first night of this year’s NFL coverage. He also managed to give a preview for the music video of his new single Bezerk. Make sure to check it out all out back at Stereogum.
The new single from the Arcade Fire, Reflektor, has finally arrived! And from the sound of it, people are absolutely loving this new tune from the indie heroes. The band’s new album was assisted in recording by LCD Soundsystem’s James Murphy, and is set to hit shelves soon! And I’ve heard that this song might also have a subtle guest appearance from David Bowie. You can check it out back at We All Want Someone To Shout For.
R&B’s favorite daughter Janelle Monae has been doing a lot of high profile promoting for her new record Electric Lady, due out next Tuesday. First came a detailed cover story for Pitchfork, and today she’s being featured over at NPR Music. You can check out both stories at Pitchfork and NPR respectively.
Today the music broke that pop star Bruno Mars has been booked to play the halftime show for Superbowl XLVIII. There has been a mixed response from fans on this one, but I think he’ll put on a great show! The man is just so talented. You can read the whole story back at Consequence of Sound.
Alt-rock band The Killers are apparently prepping a new greatest hits compilation, and for its release, they’ve written three brand new songs. There aren’t many details about the story at this moment, but there’s a possibility one of those tunes is the band’s recent collaboration with M83. We’ll keep you posted, and you can read a few more details about the story back at Stereogum.
And, just in case you’ve been nursing a particular need for new music from rapper French Montana, we’ve got you covered! Montana put out a new track this past week that was apparently recorded (along with five other songs) at The Palms in Las Vegas. The song is called Julius Caesar, and you can hear it by following the link back to 2dopeboyz.
And that is all the news we have for today folks! Hope you have a great day! You can check out my other articles here. Have questions, comments, suggestions, or love?
