Daily Round-Up For September 7, 2013

Sep 07, 13 Daily Round-Up For September 7, 2013

Greetings music lovers and Happy Saturday! Welcome to the Daily Round-Up, redOrbit’s one and only collection of all the latest and greatest music news of the day. We have a few very interesting stories for you today, so let’s get to business!

With all the unfortunate circumstances surrounding the Electric Zoo Festival in New York last week, it has been easy to overlook all the great music that managed to go down. Electronic blog The Dancing Astronaut has just posted a recap for one of the sets by up-and-coming electronic producer Mat Zo. It sounds like he absolutely ripped his set to pieces, but you don’t have to take my word for it. You can listen to his entire set too! The recap and the full set can be found back at The Dancing Astronaut.

In hip-hop news, the two arguably biggest players in the genre both announced massive tours today. Jay-Z, fresh off his release of Magna Carta…Holy Grail, is embarking on the Magna Carter World Tour, which spans 34 dates in total. And if that weren’t crazy enough, Kanye West also announced that he is going on a solo tour – his first in five years. And to top it all off, Kanye is taking superstar-in-the-making Kendrick Lamar along with him. If you can get tickets to either of these shows, I recommend you do so. Links to the dates and locations as well as more information about tickets can be found at 2dopeboyz.

We’ve been teased in the past about a new Coldplay tune for the new Hunger Games movie soundtrack, but today it is finally upon us! You can head back to Stereogum to check out the song, entitled Atlas, for yourself.

Yuck, with a new lineup, has continued to push on as a band. This week they recorded a special cover – it’s of the No Age song Age of Consent. You can take a listen to their version of the song back at Stereogum.

You can always count on Jimmy Fallon to have some sweet acts on his show, especially of the hip-hop variety. Last month he featured Earl Sweatshirt as he promoted his new record, this week he had 2 Chainz and Pharrell on Late Night to perform their song Feds Watching. 2 Chainz’s new album B.O.A.T.S. II: Me Time is set for release next Tuesday. Head back to 2dopeboyz to check out their performance!

And that is all the news we have for today folks! Hope you have a great day! You can check out my other articles here.
