Daily Round-Up For September 24, 2013
Hello, music aficionados! Welcome to the Daily Round-Up, redOrbit’s best assortment of all the latest and greatest music news of the day. Let’s get right to business, shall we?
First and foremost, if you happened to have a bit of a tiring weekend, the Dancing Astronaut has just the right formula to make you feel better. Their Sunday Morning Medicine playlist series is specifically designed to soothe, relax, and restore faithful listeners after a particularly draining weekend of fun. If you need to kick start your Monday with some smooth electro, look no further than this playlist.
People love to lose their minds over new Arcade Fire and, of course, that is for good reason. The band is great, and their secretive approach to marketing make any slimmer of news into a headline. Today that trend is continued as a leaked copy of the tracklist to the band’s new record Reflektor hit Amazon.com France. You can see it for yourself at The Line of Best Fit.
One of the most low-key relationships in the entertainment industry is the between Saturday Night Live album Andy Samberg and the indie musician Joanna Newsom, and it just took a big step forward! This week the two were married at a luxury retreat in Big Sur. They have been dating for five years. Congrats to the two of them! The full story is at Pitchfork Music.
The music lovers over at The Music Ninja put up a new track this weekend by an independent group called The KickDrums. Their track Atonement seemed to score high marks with the Music Ninja crew, so it’s probably worth a listen. Check it out at the Music Ninja.
Headlines just continue to pour in from the absolutely huge iHeart Radio Music Festival. Justin Timberlake debuted two new songs to the public this weekend at the festival in Las Vegas. You can watch his entire performance, including the new cuts True Blood and When I Walk Away, back at 2dopeboyz.
Dancing Astronaut has another interesting series of features called Battle of the Beats, where two tracks of the same name are pitted against each other in order to name the superior song. This week is particularly interesting because one of my favorite producers Porter Robinson is in on the action, facing off against a song by Martin Solveig and Dragonette. If you’re interested to see which song called Hello will win, you can check it out at the Dancing Astronaut.
And that is all the news we have for today folks! Hope you have a great day! You can check out my other articles here. Have questions, comments, suggestions, or love?
