Daily Round-Up For September 21, 2013

Sep 21, 13 Daily Round-Up For September 21, 2013

Hello loyal readers! Sorry for yet another unexplained hiatus, but the Daily Round-Up is back! If you’re unfamiliar, the Round-Up is redOrbit’s collection of all the music news of the day. Let’s get to business!

We always welcome a good remix or two here at the Round-Up. And today we have a special one as indie-pop band Purity Ring have remixed the queen of pop herself, Lady Gaga. You can listen to their take on Applause back at Stereogum.

These music blogs love to make lists at all times for all occasions. But I’m not complaining, because there is always good music and interesting insight contained within those lists! I recommend you take a peek at Stereogum’s list of the Best New Bands of 2013 – you are sure to find at least one band that you like!

I don’t know much about Mazzy Star, but they’ve been making a lot of news in the weeks leading up to their new album release next week. Today they released the music video for their track California as promotion for their new record. You can check it out at The Line of Best Fit.

Seeing as how The Roots are the day-to-day band for Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, it makes sense that they would use their platform to promote their new material whenever they have some. So this week their collaborator Elvis Costello stopped by to perform for the second time. You can check out the performance at Stereogum.

Daft Punk are finally doing the things we wished they’d been doing since the beginning – they are releasing remixes of popular tracks, just like any other electronic artist. Today the lucky artist was Franz Ferdinand, as Daft Punk put their own spin on the standout Take Me Out. You can listen at The Line of Best Fit. By the way, if you’re curious what those ingenious French boys are listening to, you can check out the celebrity playlists they created for Spotify. They have some great taste! Those can be found at Consequence of Sound.

Everyone is clamoring for new material from pop prince Justin Timberlake. Even though the release of his upcoming new album The 20/20 Experience Part 2 is close, it is just not close enough! So to tide the fans over just a bit longer, JT has released a new song from his record, entitled TKO. It’s another 7-minute epic, and it seems to be getting some pretty good reception. Check it out at Oh So Fresh Music.

And that is all the news we have for today folks! Hope you have a great day! You can check out my other articles here. Have questions, comments, suggestions, or love? Or do you have an opinion on any of the music featured in today’s Round-Up? I’m dying to hear from you! As always, you can contact me through my email, or through Twitter @RobinCopple1. If you would like, I can include your message in a future edition of the Round-Up!

Thank you so much for reading redOrbit and The Daily Round-Up! Stay safe you guys! I love you all.
