Oct 22, 13 Daily Round-Up For October 22, 2013

Hello beautiful people! Welcome to the Daily Round-Up, redOrbit’s one stop shop for all the latest, greatest, and most interesting music news of the day. Let’s get to it!

Today is a solemn day as musicians all over the world are commemorating the life and achievements of Elliott Smith, who died ten years ago today. You can find testimonials from all sorts of popular and revered music makers, along with a Spotify playlist dedicated to Smith, back at Stereogum.

In some perhaps surprising news, it has been revealed that the songs that mash-up artist Girl Talk uses in his tracks actually benefit with an increase in sales after being remixed. If you want to read the whole story, or learn more about the study that produced these results, you can head back to Consequence of Sound.

A lot of people are worried about Childish Gambino, ever since he posted an emotional series of pictures to his Instagram account. But he has since assured fans that there is nothing to worry about, and he looks like he means it. Today he released a new song, entitled 3005, from his upcoming project Because The Internet. You can check it out back at 2dopeboyz.

Azealia Banks hasn’t caused a ruckus on Twitter in a while, but that doesn’t mean she’s not still completely active with her music. Today she released the music video for her tune ATM Jam, which features the ubiquitous Pharrell Williams. Be sure to check it out at Consequence of Sound.

Today is a big day for new music, as there are new albums on the market from AFI, Best Coast, Cage, CFCF, Katy Perry, Motorhead, Ryan Hemsworth, and so many more. If you want to see the full list just head back to Metacritic.

But, if you still need some more tunes in your life, then you can listen to The Music Ninja’s new edition of The Chill Dojo, their collection of some of the most chill and relaxing tracks across all genres. Just head back to their site to take a listen.

And in some of the more interesting things to happen today, in anticipation of CFCF’s new record, the blog Gorilla vs. Bear has decided to hand over the keys to the blog to CFCF for the week. If you want to check out what crazy stuff the man comes up with to post, you can head back to Gorilla vs. Bear.

And that is all the news we have for today folks! Hope you have a great day! You can check out my other articles here.
