Daily Round-Up For October 18, 2013
Hello sweet readers! Welcome to the Daily Round-Up, redOrbit’s best assortment of all the latest and greatest music news of the day! Let’s dive right in.
Memphis-area producer GRiZ has released a new set of music for free! The man has built up a well-deserved reputation for creating some of the most varied, textured, and all-around banging electronic music in the scene, and his new material is sure to entertain. You can check out the tracks, along with a beautiful accompanying piece, over at the Dancing Astronaut.
Kid Cudi is a lot of things, but boring and predictable are not among them. You can’t say that you expected the rapper to announce not only Man On The Moon 3, but also a new prelude EP. But that’s exactly what the man did, at a show in Dallas. You can actually see video of the moment, and read the whole story back at 2dopeboyz.
The Arctic Monkeys are in full tour mode, in support of their new record AM. This week they stopped by Jimmy Kimmel Live! to showcase their unique brand of brit-rock. You can check out video from their performance at Consequence of Sound.
So if you have been following the whole Drake vs. Future debacle, it seems like the story might have finally reached its strange conclusion. Future has been restored to the Drake ticket, presumably in the interest of money and image. But hey, you get two rappers for the price of one! Check out the full story at 2dopeboyz.
The venerable Rock and Roll Hall of Fame has announced its nominees for the new 2014 Class. Among the names on the ballet are Nirvana, Peter Gabriel, KISS, The Replacements, N.W.A., Hall and Oates, Cat Stevens, The Zombies, and LL Cool J. NPR put together a nice little run-down of the nominees and their best works. You can take a listen to that back at NPR Music.
Sky Ferreira has had quite the eventful year. From tours, to record delays, to arrests, to vocal issues, the rising pop princess has been through it all. But now it seems things are finally settling down in time for the singer to release her debut full-length record, Night Time, My Time. And this week she sat down with Stereogum for an in-depth and very enjoyable little interview. If you’re interested, be sure to check out their talk back at Stereogum.
