Daily Round-Up For November 12, 2013
Hello awesome people! Welcome to the Daily Round-Up, redOrbit’s favorite assortment of all the latest, greatest, and most awesome music news of the day. Let’s dive right in!
In some tragic news, three members of the indie band, The Yellow Dogs, have been shot and killed by an ex-bandmember, who then turned the gun on himself. A fourth member was shot twice but is expected to live. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the loved ones of those lost. The full story is at Consequence of Sound.
San Francisco’s Boiler Room has just released a free-wheeling DJ set by none other than producer extraordinaire, Madlib. The mix features an eclectic blend of dusty hip-hop and soul vibes, tied together with some random, discordant sounds and samples. If you’re looking for some easy tunes to play today, look no further than this mix. You can check it out at Oh So Fresh Music.
If you’re like me, you’ve been steadily falling deeper and deeper in love with the Glasgow indie pop band Chvrches. And if you like their song Lies, then you’re in for a treat as the song has been remixed by a producer named Tourist. Check out the new reworked song back at The Line of Best Fit.
The music video for rapper Drake’s Worst Behavior, filmed on location in his father’s hometown of Memphis, Tennessee, has now been released. Look out for Project Pat, Juicy J, and Father Dennis Graham to make appearances throughout the ten-minute video. You can check out the video back at Consequence of Sound.
Second annual Odd Future Carnival went down this weekend in Los Angeles, and it was as weird as ever. But perhaps the strangest moment occurred when Kanye West appeared alongside Tyler, The Creator to perform his single New Slaves and Late, a track from 2005’s Late Registration. The videos are worth watching just to see Tyler’s reactions to all the madness. Check them out at Stereogum. Kanye then managed to appear in New York City the next night to play some songs at Leonardo DiCaprio’s birthday party. You can see his performances of various songs from the night back at Consequence of Sound.
And I’ll leave you today with a fun picture that needs no further explanation. Please enjoy this photo of Ron Burgundy and Daft Punk riding a tandem bicycle through the streets of Amsterdam. Happy Tuesday!
