Daily Round-Up For March 18, 2014

Mar 18, 14 Daily Round-Up For March 18, 2014

Hello pretty people! Welcome to the Daily Round-Up, redOrbit’s best assortment of all the latest, greatest, and most interesting music news of the day. Happy Tuesday! Let’s dive right in.

The Flaming Lips, just after announcing a Miley Cyrus collaboration, have decided to go ahead and cover all of The Beatles record Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. What’s more, in addition to Miley, they’re recruiting the likes of MGMT, Tame Impala, Phantogram, and Foxygen to help out, making this perhaps the highest-profile and most crowded record to be conceived in some time. You can check out the full story back at Rolling Stone and Consequence of Sound, respectively.

The ever-elusive Jay Electronica released a new song today, presumably a cut from his forever-delayed and forever-anticipated debut album Act II: Patents of Nobility (The Turn). The song is called Better In Tune With The Infinite, and features a spot from Latonya Givens. Be sure to check this one out, back at Oh So Fresh Music.

Against Me! are back from South By Southwest, where they reportedly put on an outstanding show. And today they’re getting right back to work, as they released a new music video for their track Black Me Out. You can watch the video and listen to the song back at Stereogum.

We love chill music here at redOrbit, and that’s why we’re always so happy when The Music Ninja presents us with a new edition of The Chill Dojo, their playlist series cataloguing all of the most relaxing and soothing new sounds. This week’s collection is just as good as ever, so just follow the link back to the Music Ninja to check out tunes and remixes from Daughter, Ellie Goulding, and Teen Daze.

And finally, today is New Music Tuesday! New record releases are expected from Black Lips, Enrique Iglesias, Foster The People, Madlib and Freddie Gibbs, Skrillex, Taking Back Sunday, The War On Drugs, and so many more. But on top of that, a few albums have been made available to stream for free ahead of their release dates. Those include Future Islands and their new album Singles, the new record from Liars, entitled Mess, and Foster The People and their hotly anticipated new LP Supermodel. You can check those streams out at The Line of Best Fit and Consequence of Sound respectively, and check out a couple upcoming release calendars back at Metacritic.

And that is all the news we have for today folks! Hope you have a great day! You can check out my other articles here.
