Daily Round-Up For March 13, 2013
Hello amazing readers! Welcome to the Daily Round-Up, redOrbit’s collection of all of the greatest and most important news to bubble to the surface in the wonderful world of music for the day. Without further ado, let’s get right to it!
Odd Future rap stars Earl Sweatshirt and Tyler The Creator have collaborated on a new track! Entitled “Woah,” the new song features a creepy, grooving beat typical of the Odd Future Wolf Gang. Earl has been out of commission for so long that hearing his older voice is jarring. It’s easy to mistake him for his deep voiced cohort Tyler. What I like to hear most on this track is the middle ground these guys seem to have found. They are neither ostracizing listeners with excessive shock rap, nor are they playing it safe with subject matter or delivery. After a weak response from Tyler’s debut and Earl’s well-documented disappearance, Odd Future seem to have re-calibrated and are ready to tear apart the rap world once again. To check out the track and see if you agree, follow this link back our friends at The Music Ninja.
Wu-Tang Clan overlords Raekwon and Ghostface Killah both debuted new tracks, presumably both from upcoming projects. You can find out more about the tracks, as well as listen to them, by following the link back to The Line of Best Fit.
I’m sure by now, if you are even a sporadic reader of the Daily Round-Up, you’ve heard me profess my love for alternative pop songstress Sky Ferreira on more than one occasion. But today, she is doing something even more awesome than her usual activities. She is trading the free, no-questions-asked download of a new song of hers, in exchange for a like on Facebook. If you’re a fan, or if you’re not, I suggest you go check out her page and hit it up with a like. And you can also read more about this story by following the link to The Line of Best Fit.
David Bowie’s wife has revealed that she believes he will be fit to complete a full tour in support of his upcoming new LP. You can read the whole story by following the link back to The Line of Best Fit.
Justin Timberlake is tearing apart the world right now. After a knockout performance as host and musical guest on Saturday Night Live, he made an appearance on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon to perform the song “Mirrors.” Needless to say, he most likely did a very good job. You can watch the video, or read the accompanying story, by following the link back to Consequence of Sound.
And that is all the news we have for today folks! Hope you have a great day! And check out my other articles here. Have questions, comments, suggestions, or love?
