Daily Round-Up For June 29, 2013
Hello there! Welcome to the Daily Round-Up, redOrbit’s one and only collection of some of the most interesting and most entertaining pieces of music news from the day. Let’s get right down to business!
Pop princess and multi-genre super-talent Janelle Monae put out a new song today! Dance Apocalyptic looks to further Monae’s trend of pop infused R&B jams that she perfected so well on her latest LP, The ArchAndroid. Check it out at Consequence of Sound.
Daft Punk has been candid with their plans to remix much of their mostly analog recent LP Random Access Memories. They released the first song from that effort, a 10-minute remix of Get Lucky, a couple of days ago. But Daft Punk got beat to the final punch today as Daftside, a collaboration between producers Nicolas Jaar and Darkside, went and remixed the entire record. Sounds like pretty crazy stuff! Check it out at The Verge.
In more Daft Punk news, their smash hit single Get Lucky sold a million copies this week! It’s the first track this year to achieve that feat. Check out the news at The Line of Best Fit.
Alternative rock band Franz Ferdinand has been relatively quiet as of late, but today they made headlines by releasing some new music! If you’re interested, you can listen to two brand new Franz Ferdinand tracks by following the link back to The Line of Best Fit.
Alternative and grunge outfit Brand New have been forced to cancel their current tour due to personal issues, presumably within the band. Here’s to hoping they settle these problems soon. Brand New is one of the best bands of their style of music, and their massive cult following of fans would be massively disappointed to miss out on their music. If you would like to check out the full story, and perhaps speculate on what is driving Brand New away from their tour, you can follow the link back to The Line of Best Fit.
If you know me well, you know that I flip my lid whenever anything featuring the rapper Blu comes out. And today I’m proud to say I flipped my lid! Comfy in the Trunk is a track that Blu had already released in some form earlier, but today a producer named Bolts remixed it. Other than that this seems to be a pretty standard release. Still awesome, either way. Check it out at 2dopeboyz.
And that is all the news we have for today folks! Hope you have a great day! You can check out my other articles here. Have questions, comments, suggestions, or love?
