Daily Round-Up For June 28, 2013
Hello beautiful people! Welcome to the Daily Round-Up, redOrbit’s one and only collection of some of the most interesting and entertaining music news of the day. It was another busy one so let’s get right to it!
Alright, let’s just get the biggest news out of the way first. Remember Random Access Memories, Daft Punk’s much-lauded comeback album from a few weeks ago? Remember their promise to start releasing remixes of their own tracks, perhaps as early as July? Well Christmas came early boys and girls! Today, Daft Punk let loose with a 10-minute remix of their No. 1 smash hit single “Get Lucky,” and you know you want to hear it. The track, as well as a worthwhile breakdown of it, can be found by following the link back to The Dancing Astronaut. Enjoy!
In news that was largely expected, it seems that Kanye West’s new record Yeezus has debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard Charts, by selling about 327,000 copies. What’s more, it is apparently his sixth No. 1 album! Not many people get to say that they have six No. 1’s. Pretty cool stuff. If you would like to check out the story, and see what illustrious company Kanye has put himself in with this performance, you can hit the link and follow it back to The Line of Best Fit.
MGMT, buzzword band of 2007, have announced that they have begun work on a new record! They are calling it simply MGMT. Here’s to hoping their special brand of pop-infused psychedelic rock is still in top condition. You can read all of the additional information about the news by following the link back to We All Want Someone To Shout For.
On top of that, super band Gorillaz has also announced that they will release a new album! This is very special news, especially because most recent reports from leader Damon Albarn didn’t seem to have a new record on the horizon. But today, instead of more bad news, we got some good news! Jamie Hewlett, who is in charge of all the visual goodies associated with the Gorillaz, dropped some significant insider knowledge that hinted strongly at the possibility of a new LP. If you would like to read the entire statement and see what all is up in the Gorillaz camp, you can do so by following the link back to We All Want Someone To Shout For.
And that is all the news we have for today folks! Hope you have a great day! You can check out my other articles here. Have questions, comments, suggestions, or love?
