Daily Round-Up For June 24, 2013
Hello! Welcome to the Daily Round-Up, redOrbit’s collection of some of the most interesting pieces of music news of the day. Let’s dive in!
NPR Music does a great thing called “First Listen.” In this series, they feature various albums for streaming and listening before the initial release of the record. This is a great way to hear a record early if you’re a super fan or just if you’re interested. This week, there are three new records available to listen to. The new Daughn Gibson LP Me Moan, the new Cheyenne Mize record Among The Grey, and the new Beautiful Swimmers album Son are each available for streaming. Links to the streams on NPR can be found at the respective links.
Indie-rock overlords Wilco have apparently been bitten by whatever bug inspires bands to do out-of-left-field, crazy, but totally amazing covers of other artists. Today they have decided to play Marquee Moon by pioneering band Television. Want to hear it and see if they did it justice? Check it out by following the link back to TwentyFourBit Music.
Dance act Disclosure has been making a serious name for themselves as of late! After glowing reviews from Pitchfork, The Needle Drop, and other respected music publications, Disclosure has begun to become recognized as one of the premier acts in dance music – and rightfully so! Today they put out a music video for their new single F For You. If you want to check it out, you can follow the link back to Gorilla vs Bear.
We are getting so close to the release of Asher Roth’s new mixtape, Greenhouse Effect Vol.2. Over the past few weeks Roth has been leaking tunes from the tape as a form of promotion, and today is no exception! You can listen to Pop Radio X Pearly Gates by following the link back to 2dopeboyz; and look out for the mixtape dropping on June 25th!
If you have been a reader of the Daily Round-Up for any amount of time, you must be familiar with my love for the Dancing Astronaut’s playlist “Sunday Morning Medicine” playlists. And today I am again recommending one of these playlists, but today is different because this week’s Medicine is 100% Daft Punk edition! You simply cannot turn that down. If you want to check it out, you do so by can follow the link back to the Dancing Astronaut.
And that is all the news we have for today folks! Hope you have a great day! You can check out my other articles here. Have questions, comments, suggestions, or love?
