Daily Round-Up For June 23, 2013

Jun 23, 13 Daily Round-Up For June 23, 2013

Hello hello! Welcome to the Daily Round-Up, redOrbit’s collection of a few of the most interesting pieces of music news of the day. Hope you enjoy! Let’s dive in.

It seems like news keeps spilling out from the Roc Nation lair. Rapper Jay-Z has released the tracklist for his upcoming record Magna Carta Holy Grail. If you would like to check out the full tracklist and read more about this story, you can do so by following the link back to Consequence of Sound.

Rapper Big Sean has been a little bit forgotten in the recent developments in hip-hop. Perhaps he is looking to get into the game because he announced the release date for his new album Hall of Fame. If you would like to find out what that date is and read some more information about the album, you can do so by following the link back to 2dopeboyz.

Remember that song “The Middle”? NPR put together a piece on the alternative rock standbys that created it, Jimmy Eat World. They put out a new record a couple of weeks ago, and are looking to promote it. So if you are interested in the band or their new material, you can listen to the piece over at NPR Music.

I personally love it when bands do crazy covers. There’s something so fun and interesting about a group of musicians stretching their musical muscles and using their talents to explore another genre. This time, legendary indie rock group Wilco created a cover of electronic group Daft Punk’s super-popular hit “Get Lucky.” You should definitely check this out! The video is over at We All Want Someone To Shout For.

Electronic music is looking to make even more inroads into the mainstream! This week producer Zedd performed on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, with special guests Foxes and the Roots. If you want to watch a video of the performance, you can follow the link back to the Dancing Astronaut.

J. Cole put out a remix for the track “Let Nas Down.” This version of the song actually features Nas himself. You know Cole always kills his own remixes! If you would like to listen, just head on over to 2dopeboyz.

Superstar producer Bassnectar made an interesting move by re-releasing one of his earlier mixtapes. Dreamtempo was first put into the world in 1999, but now it’s getting a breath of fresh air. If you would like to check it out, you can follow the link back to the Dancing Astronaut.

And that is all the news we have for today folks! Hope you have a great day! You can check out my other articles here.
