Daily Round-Up For June 19, 2013
Hello you awesome people! Welcome to the Daily Round-Up, redOrbit’s one and only collection of all of the latest and greatest music news of the day. Let’s get right down to business!
As everyone is diving into the new music of the week, one of the biggest stories is undoubtedly the new Kanye West record Yeezus. And one of the most lauded aspects of the LP is the production and sampling that make up the songs’ beats. If you are listening to the album and are curious where a certain sound or sample came from, then never fear, because every sample from the songs has been collected in one convenient little package. If you want to listen you can hit the link and head over to Stereogum. The playlist is being hosted at Soundcloud.
Alternative band Local Natives has released the music video for “You & I,” one of the lead singles from their most recent record Hummingbird. I’ve heard it tells a pretty emotional story. If you would like to watch the video, you can follow the link back to Consequence of Sound.
After lighting the world of independent music on fire with their debut record earlier this year, rock band Savages have announced the dates for a fall tour of America and Europe. Among the dates are some shows supporting Queens of the Stone Age. Not bad for a new band on the scene. If you would like to read a full list of the tour dates, just hit the link and head back to Consequence of Sound.
Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeroes are getting set to release their self-titled third full-length studio album on July 23rd. They led with their lead single “Better Days,” and today they further promoted the release by putting out a new track, entitled “This Life.” If you would like to take a listen, you can hit the link and follow it back to Consequence of Sound.
Poor Chief Keef can’t catch a break. The rapper, who recently made an appearance on the new Kanye West album, pleaded guilty to a speeding charge, and then was arrested minutes later. How does that kind of thing happen? Hopefully his punishment isn’t so severe as to keep him making more music. If you would like to read in to all of the juicy details, and you know you want to, then you can follow the link back to The Line of Best Fit.
