Daily Round-Up For June 16, 2013

Jun 16, 13 Daily Round-Up For June 16, 2013

Hello friends! Welcome to the Daily Round-Up, RedOrbit’s one-stop shop for all of the latest and greatest music news of the day. You ready? Let’s get right to it.

I may be in the minority, but I love when Asher Roth puts out a new track. The rapper has been getting better with every release he has put out for years now. And his upcoming mixtape The Greenhouse Effect Vol. 2 seems to be showing no signs of that trend stopping. Today he released the song “Blurred Lines.” Check it out at 2dopeboyz.

In some of the strangest news of the day, Warner/Chappell, copyright holders to the well-known song “Happy Birthday,” are being sued for the royalties for the most profitable song of all time. There is a lot of jargon and law speak in this article and I honestly can’t really describe the situation that accurately. But if you want to read into the complexities of the conflict, be my guest to follow the link back to The Line of Best Fit.

Mac Miller has an awesome week ahead of him. His new record Watching Movies with the Sound Off, is going to be released this upcoming Tuesday, and though it is competing with record releases by J. Cole and Kanye West, it is expected to perform pretty well. Today he stopped by a radio show called “The Breakfast Club” to promote the album and discuss some of the more interesting aspects of its production. And it is actually a hilarious interview! If you would like to check out the video, you can follow the link back to 2dopeboyz.

We are nearing the finish line for Kanye West’s triumphant release of his new LP Yeezus. We have heard all sorts of stories about this record, from the first the day of writing to scrambling to finish it in time. Today, executive producer Rick Rubin said a few words about coming in at the last minute and helping to finish the record. NPR also did a little feature on the release. But the biggest news of the day had to be the revelation that Yeezus has leaked online days ahead of its release. The torrent community has most likely jumped on this record like none other this year, and we can only hope that this leak doesn’t put a dent in any album sales by Kanye himself. I personally cannot wait until Tuesday. These stories are provided by 2dopeboyz, NPR, and The Line of Best Fit.

And that is all the news we have for today folks! Hope you have a great day! Check out my other articles here.
