Daily Round-Up For June 15, 2013

Jun 15, 13 Daily Round-Up For June 15, 2013

Hello there! Welcome to the Daily Round-Up, redOrbit’s collection of all of the most important and interesting music news of the day. Let’s jump right in!

She & Him have just begun to embark on a tour in support of their new record Volume 3. They began with a show in Nashville, Tennessee and a performance on Conan. This is a special band. Video of their Conan performance can be seen at Stereogum.

Electro-pop outfit Chvrches have revealed a bunch of info about their new record, including the album art, title, and release date. If you are interested about their new LP, all of the information and more can be found at the link at The Line of Best Fit.

Super-popular band Mumford & Sons have regrettably been forced to cancel all of their US festival appearances, including their headlining appearance at Bonnaroo as their bassist recovers from surgery to remove a brain tumor. We wish everyone involved the best love and luck in hopes of a speedy recovery. At Bonnaroo, they will be replaced by Jack Johnson. Links to those stories can be found at The Line of Best Fit and Consequence of Sound.

In all the years of music that The Postal Service have given the world, it’s hard to believe they have never played a spot on television, late night or otherwise. But The Postal Service are finally breaking their no-hitter streak and playing some songs on The Colbert Report with Stephen Colbert. The story is detailed at The Line of Best Fit, and attached is a list of their remaining tour dates. Check it out!

In addition to his work with the Postal Service, Ben Gibbard is working on new material with Death Cab for Cutie, as well as some work with the bassist for Built to Spill. Busy guy! If you would like to read further into what work he is doing with those groups, you can follow the link back to The Line of Best Fit.

One of my favorite rappers, Canada’s own Shad, has released a free EP with fellow hip-hop-head Skratch Bastid. Their collaboration, entitled The Spring Up EP, is available for stream and download over at 2dopeboyz if you have any interest. I suggest you check it out. Shad is one of the most talented conscious emcees in the game today, and his first three full-length records are staples in my collection. Check it out!

And that is all the news we have for today folks! Hope you have a great day! Check out my other articles here. Have questions, comments, suggestions, or love? Or do you have an opinion on any of the music featured in today’s Round-Up? I’m dying to hear from you! As always, you can contact me through my email, or through Twitter @RobinCopple1. If you like I can include your message in a future edition of the Round-Up!
