Daily Round-Up For June 13, 2013
Hello! Welcome to the Daily Round-Up, redOrbit’s one and only collection of all of the latest and greatest music news to hit the cycle for the day. Let’s get started.
My boy Porter Robinson has just announced the dates for his most massive tour yet, an extensive trip across Europe that is surely going to please many sets of ears. Check out the list and see if any of the 24 stops are anywhere near you! Europeans, I’m extremely jealous. If you would like to read the full story, you can follow the link back to The Dancing Astronaut.
Indie-pop group The Smith Westerns have just let loose with Idol, one of the first cuts from their upcoming new sophomore LP. It’s been getting a lot of buzz around the blogosphere, so it must be pretty good! Check it out yourself and see what you think. The song and others from The Smith Westerns are hosted at their Soundcloud page.
Alternative group The National have unfortunately been forced to cancel their upcoming show in Istanbul, Turkey due to all of the violence and conflict that has been erupting there. They released a short message on their social media sites and offered an apology for the inconvenience. If you would like to find out more about the situation in Turkey, or read the band’s statement in full, you can follow the link back to Consequence of Sound.
If you are one of the unlucky thousands stuck at home during this year’s Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival (like me) then you will be extremely pleased to learn that the festival has released the list of acts to be featured on the live stream for the weekend. A full minute-to-minute schedule is reportedly on the way. If you want to see the list, hit the link and hop on over to Consequence of Sound.
And finally, it looks as though rock band Queens of the Stone Age finally have a No. 1 album. Their new record …Like Clockwork will be named Billboard’s No. 1 album in the next issuing of the list. And this certainly couldn’t have happened to a more talented or harder working band. …Like Clockwork is the band’s sixth full-length album, and they have been together since 1996. If you would like to read the full story, or see the full list for this week’s Billboard Top Albums, then you can follow the link back to Consequence of Sound.
And that is all the news we have for today folks! Hope you have a great day! Check out my other articles here. Have questions, comments, suggestions, or love?
