Daily Round-Up For July 9, 2014

Jul 09, 14 Daily Round-Up For July 9, 2014

Hello beautiful people! Welcome to the Daily Round-Up, redOrbit’s one and only collection of all the latest and greatest music news of the day. We have returned from yet another vacation! Those things can be pesky, can’t they? Nevertheless, we have returned and couldn’t be more eager to get back to work. So, let’s dive right in to the headlines!

Taylor Swift has written an editorial for The Wall Street Journal about the future of the music industry. I’d give this one a shot. That girl is a lot smarter than a lot of people give her credit for. You can find the full story for yourself back at Stereogum.

Coldplay has written a song for Zach Braff’s new movie Wish I Was Here. And oddly enough, they chose Cat Power to sing it. Check out the song, appropriately titled Wish I Was Here, for yourself back at Indie Shuffle.

Metacritic has put together a comprehensive list of what their metrics are labeling the best reviewed, and therefore best, albums so far this year. Check out the full list for yourself and see if you agree back at Metacritic.

A reportedly exhausted Earl Sweatshirt has announced that he is cancelling his entire upcoming tour in order to regain his full health and focus on finishing a brand new album. You can check out the full story, including Earl’s official tweets with the announcement and his reasoning for the decision, back at Stereogum.

As if you don’t already have enough music to listen to, a few smaller independent artists have made their material available to stream over our wondrous Internet. So if you’re chasing a little bit of a different sound at the moment, you might enjoy the new album from Woman’s Hour, entitled Conversations, or the debut album from the band Jungle. And if you are still desperate for more, there is also a new track from the band Radiator Hospital, entitled Torch Song. Make sure you check all of this sweet new music out back at Stereogum and Nialler9 Music, respectively.

And lastly, yesterday was New Music Tuesday! Plenty of great albums from plenty of great artists were released yesterday, among them new material from Sia, Chelsea Grin, Doug Benson, Judas Priest, Braid, The-Dream, Migos, Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young, and so much more. Do yourself a favor and check out the full list of releases for yourself back at Metacritic.

And that is all the news we have for today folks! Hope you have a great day! You can check out my other articles here. Have questions, comments, suggestions, or love? Or do you have an opinion on any of the music featured in today’s Round-Up?
