Daily Round-Up For July 3, 2013
Hello, pretty people! Welcome to the Daily Round-Up, redOrbit’s one stop shop for some of the most interesting and entertaining pieces of music news of the day. Let’s get right to business!
Up-and-coming rapper Joey Bada$$ has released a fresh new mixtape, and it is available for free download! A lot of the music world seems to like Joey a whole lot, and they must have good reason. This kid very well may be a big force in hip-hop in the upcoming few years. But until then, you should check out the mixtape. The download link can be found over at Consequence of Sound.
Dance music pioneer Moby has announced that he has begun work on a new project! In the coolest way possible, the producer wrote up a list of all the information he has decided to drop upon us. In short, there’s going to be a new album, entitled Innocents, and featuring a bunch of awesome guest performers. There are going to be three live shows in the L.A. area. And today, the second of two preliminary tracks has been dropped. There’s tons more information in Moby’s statement. If you would like to check that out, or listen to the new track A Case For Shame, you can do so by following the link back to the Dancing Astronaut. Do it!
There has been an unfortunate shortage of heavy music in the Round-Up as of late! And it’s definitely time to fix that. Locrian, a heavy-metal band with industrial and noise influences, played a show in Brooklyn this past weekend with a couple of supporting acts. Brilliant heavy metal blog Invisible Oranges managed to capture some awesome pictures of the show. If you would like to check them out, you can do so by following the link back to Invisible Oranges.
And last, but not least, the Glastonbury Festival in England is still raging! And there is plenty of awesome material leaking out of the festival day by day. Today we have video from Vampire Weekend, a song from James Blake, the xx, some songs from Cat Power, and even some Smashing Pumpkins! So, there is definitely a lot of stuff surfacing from this weekend. If and when more comes out, you will be sure to know! But in the meantime, check out this awesome stuff. The links are all being hosted by Consequence of Sound. Hope you enjoy!
