Daily Round-Up For July 21, 2013
Hello, funky people! Welcome to the Daily Round-Up, your only destination for music news on this Sunday. Let’s wrap up some of the latest news from the weekend.
Here we are with yet another installment of the ongoing saga of misfortune in the life of singer Morrissey. He has announced that he’s gone ahead and cancelled the rest of his future tour dates. At this point, we can only hope and give our best wishes that things go back to normal soon. The whole story can be found back at Consequence of Sound.
Producer Deadmau5 has been making some buzz with his Soundcloud account – over the past few days he has uploaded some new interesting tracks. You can take a listen to Nowhere Fast 02 and Turbo CartPig Racer. There’s a lot of confusion concerning these songs, but at least it’s some new music from the house legend! The links can be found back at the Dancing Astronaut.
Pearl Jam have unexpectedly debuted some new songs! I guess this means we can expect a new record from the grunge rockers? Either way, you can listen to Lightning Bolt and Future Days by following the link back to Consequence of Sound.
If you know anything about Jay Electronica, you most likely know the extent of what everyone knows about Jay Electronica. Basically, he’s regarded as one of the most talented rappers in the world, with the potential to be one of the greats if he…ever put out a record. His album Act II: Patents of Nobility (The Turn) has been on hold almost as long as Dr. Dre’s Detox, and has been teased mercilessly for years. Today we have another installment in the hype machine, as a member of Jay’s team released some statements regarding the album. Apparently it’s going to be amazing. I just want it now! You can read the statements back at 2dopeboyz.
Vampire Weekend seem like they’ve been having a lot of fun recently. Today, they jumped on the train of artists covering Robin Thicke’s hit song Blurred Lines. First it was Queens of the Stone Age, and now Vampire Weekend! But the song actually seems to fit with the band’s vibe pretty well: bouncy, light, silly, and fun. And the results are not bad in the slightest! If you want to take a listen to the BBC Radio 1 session, you can follow the link back to We All Want Someone To Shout For.
