Daily Round-Up For July 12, 2013
Hello hello! Long time no see friends! Welcome to the Daily Round-Up, redOrbit’s showcase of all of the latest and greatest music news. Sorry for the three-day lay-off, but the Round-Up is back in action! Let’s get to it.
Queens of the Stone Age have already made a big impact with their new record …Like Clockwork, but apparently that wasn’t enough for them as they have come out with a new special edition promotion of their album. With help from Fred Armisen, Queens of the Stone Age have announced a short supply of 8GB thumb drives loaded with the record, that double as bottle openers. A must-have for any super fan! Check out the story at The Verge.
In something that could either be seen as very good or very bad, LeBron James has been recorded lending his vocals to a certain song by Kanye West and Jay-Z. Check out the video at Consequence of Sound, and be the judge for yourself whether James should stick to the basketball court or try his hand at music.
For all of the press and success rapper Macklemore has enjoyed, I’ve never seen him in many interviews or on the front page of magazines. Maybe I just haven’t been looking, but either way today we have been graced with some wisdom from the man himself. Macklemore sat down with a radio show called Hot 97 to discuss various topics. Probably worth a listen! You can check it out over at 2dopeboyz.
Robin Thicke has hit it big with his most recent hit single “Blurred Lines.” But, as you may or may not know, Thicke is an established artist with a solid catalog that extends past his No. 1 hit. NPR recently delved into that exact history with a brief piece on the R&B singer. You can check it out at NPR Music.
In case you weren’t aware, Justin Timberlake has been planning a quick follow-up to his platinum-selling record The 20/20 Experience, which is being called simply The 20/20 Experience Part 2. And today he debuted a teaser video for the upcoming release, which will surely wet the appetites of anyone who considers themselves a JT fan. If you are interested or would like to check out the video or read into any additional information concerning the upcoming record, you can do so by simply following the link back to The Line of Best Fit.
