Daily Round-Up For February 27, 2013
Hello you lovely people! And welcome to the Daily Round-Up, redOrbit’s eclectic collection of all of the greatest and most important news to hit the surface in the amazing world of music. Without any further ado, let’s right down to it!
Apparently the music industry has seen its first year of growth in about 13 years. It is a growth 0.3% to be exact. So, is this good news for the music industry? I guess we will see. You can read the full story and decide for yourself by following the link back to The Line of Best Fit.
For all you Canadian music heads out there, you might be interested to hear that the lineup for the upcoming 2013 Ottowa Bluesfest has been released to the public. If you got a hankering to listen to some tunes this summer, you should jet on down to Ontario this July 7th through the 14th. The biggest names include Skrillex, Wu-Tang Clan, Passion Pit, Animal Collective, Belle & Sebastian, Neko Case, Tegan & Sara, She & Him, Killer Mike, El-P, e, Weezer, Stars, Dawes, The Joy Formidable, Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, Fitz & the Tantrums, Atlas Genius, Ra Ra Riot, and B.B. King. So it looks like this festival is going to be an amazing time. To read more about the festival, and get a list of the full lineup, you can follow the link back to Consequence of Sound.
It is being reported that the singer from indie pop group Veronica Falls is going to make an appearance on the new Franz Ferdinand LP. Not much more information is being divulged at the moment, but this does seem like at the very least a very interesting collaboration. You can read the whole story by following the link back to The Line of Best Fit.
The greatest thing about electronic music festivals is that you pack so many of these guys into one place at the same time. The Creamfields festival in the UK is boasting one of the most stacked lineups that I can remember in the recent history of electronic music. Headlining names include Knife Party, Benny Benassi, Avicii, Nicky Romero, David Guetta, Afrojack, Porter Robinson, Feed Me, Tiesto, Sub Focus, Richie Hawtin, Modestep, Laidback Luke, Mat Zo, Skream, Benga, and The Prodigy. You can read more about the festival and view the full lineup by following the link back to the Dancing Astronaut.
And finally, some guys from the Line of Best Fit got the lovely opportunity to see my crush Sky Ferreira play a show at the Madam JoJo’s in the UK. You can check out their write-up about the show, and look at some pretty pictures here. And by the way, listen to Sky Ferreria!
And that is all the news we have for today folks! Hope you have a great day! Have questions, comments, suggestions, or love? As always, you can contact me through my email, or through Twitter @robincopple1. And check out my other articles here. If you like I can include your message in a future edition of the Round-Up!
