Daily Round-Up For February 17, 2014

Feb 17, 14 Daily Round-Up For February 17, 2014

Hello, one and all, and welcome to the Daily Round-Up, redOrbit’s best offering of all the latest, greatest, most interesting, and most awesome music news of the day. There’s a lot to catch up on after this busy weekend, so let’s get to business!

Before we get swamped with another wave of new music this Tuesday, NPR is making a couple of upcoming albums available to preview in full over at their website. If you’re interested, you can check out the new release from Beck, Morning Phase, and the new record from Death Vessel, Island Intervals, back at NPR Music.

On top of that, NPR have also put up a new edition of their popular World Café series, this time featuring alternative group Stephen Malkmus & The Jicks, who are promoting their new record Wig Out At Jagbags. You can listen to them chat with NPR and play a few tunes back at NPR Music.

Beyonce’s popular new track Drunk In Love benefitted from a couple of high profile remixes this weekend, from superstar producer Diplo and R&B singer The Weeknd. You can listen to both new remixes and see which one you prefer back at Consequence of Sound and Oh So Fresh Music respectively.

Lil Wayne has announced that his next (and potentially final) new album, Tha Carter V, will be released soon, fittingly on May 5th. Wayne made the official announcement on Friday night at a NBA All-Star Party. You can hear that announcement, as well as find more information back at Consequence of Sound.

Surprise surprise, Kanye West went on another extended rant this weekend. This particular one, which went down at his show in Newark, New Jersey, lasted more than 20 minutes and hit on topics such as the latest controversy with Drake and Rolling Stone, his recently released new shoes the Yeezy 2s, and his opinion on all the latest news from the Grammys. If you’d like to hear Kanye’s side of things (and you know you do), just head back to the full video back at 2dopeboyz.

And finally, no weekend is complete without Dancing Astronaut and their Sunday Morning Medicine series. Each week Dancing Astronaut puts together a collection of tunes intended to soothe, relax, and chill out any listener after a busy weekend of fun. And the songs always hit their mark. You can check out this week’s playlist back at Dancing Astronaut.

And that is all the news we have for today folks! Hope you have a great day! You can check out my other articles here.
