Daily Round-Up For August 25, 2013

Aug 25, 13 Daily Round-Up For August 25, 2013

Hello there! Welcome to the Daily Round-Up, redOrbit’s one stop shop for all of the latest and greatest music news of the day. Let’s get right to business.

In case you care, Kanye West stopped by Kris Jenner’s daytime talk show and dished about all aspects of his life. In addition to that video, there’s also a long-awaited picture of his new baby, North West. You can find it all at Stereogum. In unrelated Kanye news, the rapper also produced five tracks for his protégé Pusha T, on his upcoming album My Name Is My Name. The full story is back at The Line of Best Fit.

If you’ve got a hankering for some new hood-rap, then you can rest easy for the moment. The king of bass bumping, rapper Bun B, is set to release a new record as soon as October. All the details are back at 2dopeboyz.

There’s a report from a promoter in Australia that is saying Nine Inch Nails leader Trent Reznor has turned down an invitation for the band to perform at the upcoming Soundwave Festival. Word is Reznor gave the reason that he wants “to court a more sophisticated fanbase.” Naturally, there’s been a bit of backlash from this comment. You can read the whole story back at The Line of Best Fit.

In a bit of interesting news, indie pop duo Teagan & Sara are planning to play in a musical festival on a cruise ship. Alternative band Paramore are set to co-headline. I’m not sure if this is the first festival of this style, but it’s the likely the one with the best lineup. The full story is at The Line of Best Fit.

MGMT made their return to Late Night television this week, in a performance for The Late Show With David Letterman. Unfortunately though, according to a few different sources, they were terrible. You can find the full video, as well as a few different accounts of the performance, at Stereogum, The Line of Best Fit, The Atlantic, and Consequence of Sound.

When people talk about Green Day, they usually like to harken back to the glory days, before the band developed a poppier sound, and instead made records like Dookie. Well, those people have had their dream come true, as the band went and performed that record in full at a show recently in London. And the best part? Someone caught it all on tape. You can check it out back at Stereogum.

And that is all the news we have for today folks! Hope you have a great day! You can check out my other articles here. Be sure to check out my latest review, for the new Washed out record Paracosm.
