Daily Round-Up For April 11, 2013
Hi, hey, and hello, ladies and gentlemen! Welcome to the Daily Round-Up, redOrbitâ€™s one stop shop for all of the latest and greatest news to hit the world of popular and independent music. Today, like any day, is a great day for music news. So letâ€™s hesitate no longer and jump right in.
James Blake, fresh off of this weekâ€™s release of his excellent sophomore LP Overgrown, has come out with a video for the title track and first single of the album. The videoâ€™s director, Nabil Frederickson is a famous music video director who has also created videos for Kanye West, among others. Usually when you hear something about Kid Cudi and a release date for an upcoming record, it is about a long and painful delay. But it seems that Kid Cudi has gotten his act together in a pretty serious way. He has in fact decided to move up the release date of his new record, Indicud, up to April 16th. The Southern rap sensation Big K.R.I.T. has taken some time off between big budget studio albums and supporting tours and has released a new mixtape! Knowing Big K.R.I.T. and his consistency, you will definitely be able to expect at the very least a solid release from the up and coming rap sensation. The Zooey Deschanel and M. Ward duo She & Him have been working on their upcoming third record, and today they released a new track from those sessions. You can listen to â€śI Could Have Been Your Girlâ€ť by following the link to We All Want Someone To Shout For.
R&B and Rap had a banner year this past year. Today, two of the greatest performers of that stretch, Miguel and Kendrick Lamar, have collaborated to create one track together. Lamar has remixed Miguelâ€™s song â€śHow Many Drinks?â€ť, and the results are apparently quite good. You can check the song out by following the link back to The Music Ninja.
