Apple is on a roll this week. On Tuesday, October 23, 2012, Apple announced many new additions to its family. I am most interested in the iPad Mini.
I have thoroughly enjoyed my iPad. Though I still love my MacBook Pro most, the iPad has been a wonderful addition to my writing life. I can sketch ideas out on my iPad using different apps including Pages. I can listen to inspiring music using iTunes or Pandora. I can scan the internet looking at the latest news using Safari. And I can use iBooks or even the Kindle app to read magazines and books. All of these have provided lovely benefits to my life. No longer do I have to wait to write and read for when the time is perfect. With my iPad, I can do both activities any place at any time. It is a pretty convenient little gadget.
I have some issues with it, though. I wish that it had a USB port, and, frankly, I have never understood why that’s the case. I also wish that Microsoft Word would make an app that is compatible because I write, a lot, and access to Word would be nice. I am growing to appreciate Pages the more I use it, but it is still not as convenient as Microsoft Word simply because many more people and devices use Word.
The iPad is also a bit cumbersome in its size. I actually do not mind this so much because I feel like it is sturdy, but it would be nice to be able to fit it in my purse instead of in a bag. It would also be even more convenient in a smaller size. I mean, if I already utilize the iPad as it is, then of course a smaller size would interest me. That is where the iPad Mini comes in.
The iPad Mini is a device that I will definitely be looking into. Not only is it smaller, but it is cheaper. As redOrbit reported, the iPad Mini has a 7.9 inch display. It will only take one hand to hold it at that size. And its cost starts at $329. Both of these assets make this a worthy addition to any collection of technology.
Like redOrbit said, the iPad Mini is a little bit iPad and a little bit iPod Touch. It provides the storage and usage of the iPad in a size more comparable to the iPod Touch. Don’t misunderstand this, though. The iPad Mini is larger than the iPod Touch and provides similar services and capabilities to the iPad.
I have long been a fan of Apple products, and with each new technology introduction, I find new conveniences and capabilities. I love the innovation. I love the addition to my life. Of course, Apple is not alone in its contributions to technology, but I always look forward to their unveiling. Plus, I do have several of their devices already, so syncing and connecting the technology I already use is definitely something I am interested in. I look forward to trying out the iPad Mini and perhaps adding it to my technology collection.
