An Epic Battle Between Titans Of The Automotive World
Sitting around the lunch table at work, or at the BBQ in the back yard, automotive enthusiasts debate which vehicle really is the fastest. Porsche, Lamborghini and Ferrari are the most common cars named, but in my experiences the two vehicles that battle for the title are rarely mentioned, if not at all, among the discussions. I, myself, had never heard of the Bugatti until last year and today was the first time I heard of the Koenigsegg.
Thanks to our friends at Top Speed, we can bring continued, interesting automotive news like this.
The two fastest vehicles in the automotive world faced each other in a battle to see who really is the fastest; a Bugatti Veyron and a Koenigsegg Agera S Hundra. These two powerhouses sport a combined 2,000 plus hp and more than 2,000 lb-ft of torque.
Not only is their performance unmatched, but the styles of these super cars are definitely head turners. Just the sound of them catches your attention as they speed by. That’s if you can actually see them other than in a blur.
A 26-minute video of the battle can be seen here. During the video, the two rockets on wheels battle back and forth, speed around turns and race down long straight-aways. It seems that the Hundra has an advantage during the video and is just playing with the Bugatti for the most part.
Notably where the race was held, the straight-aways were not long enough for a true top end speed, but the video definitely shows the power of these two awesome vehicles.
The first section of the video shows the view from the Hundra, the next section is from the Bugatti. A third section shows the view from the Hundra, and again the Hundra seems to take charge in the power department. The final views are from a spectators position, and in conclusion even with a smaller engine, apparently the Hundra over-takes the Bugatti as the worlds fastest vehicle.
In any case, any vehicle that can top the 250 mph range as a street drivable machine is, in my book, a winner. Both of these super cars break that plane and can be considered as unmatched in speed and performance.
The Bugatti has a 8.0-L W-16 cylinder mid-engine, producing 1,001 hp at 6000 rpm and 1250 lb-ft of peak torque from 2,200-5,500 rpm. It can streak to a 2.6 second 0-60 mph and muster a top speed of 253. The transmission is a seven gear DSG.
Agera S Hundra has a DOHC 32-valve 5.0-L V-8 with twin turbo chargers, producing 1,030 hp and 812 lb-ft of torque. 0-60 is turned in 2.8 seconds and top speed is an impressive 273 mph estimate.
