2013 Dodge Challenger R/T Redline

Muscle cars have been around, well, since as long as I can remember. One of them was the Dodge Challenger, which was produced in three different generations. The first was manufactured from 1970 – 1974, the second from 1978 – 1983, and the third and current generation of Challengers began in 2008. The Challenger was built to compete in the muscle car market against the Mustang and Camaro.
The current Dodge Challenger has rear wheel drive with independent rear suspension. It comes with three engine choices, a 3.5L V6 pushing 250 HP and 250 lb-ft of torque; a 5.7L V8 that produces 372 HP and 400 lb-ft of torque; or a 6.1L V8 with an impressive 425 HP and 420 lb-ft torque. The transmission bolted to these power plants is either a 6-speed manual or a 5-speed automatic.
For 2013 Dodge has added another Challenger to the muscle car fight with the Dodge Challenger R/T Redline. This new version features improvements over the previous version, Challenger Rallye Redline, which had the V6 under the hood. The 2013 R/T Redline sports a 5.7L HEMI V8 producing 375 HP and 410 lb-ft of torque attached to a TR6060 6-speed manual transmission. In spite of its muscle car status it delivers a fuel economy of 25 MPG highway. An optional 5-speed automatic transmission can be placed behind the HEMI, but you will lose three HP and ten lb-ft of torque.
This new version comes in four colors, Billet Silver, Granite Crystal, Bright White, and Pitch Black. A two-color stripe, Redline Red and Graphite, is added to each of the four color choices and runs on the side of the vehicle from just behind the front tire and arches to the rear.
The wheels are 20 inch Black Chrome with a Redline Red lip and inner backbone. A Super Track Package offers a set of Goodyear Eagle F1 P245/45R20 performance tires, high performance brake linings, and a lowered ride height.
The interior is Dark Slate Gray with performance seats of either Dark Slate Gray, or Radar Red Nappa leather. The models with the automatic transmission option will also have bright pedals, a Mopar T-Handle shifter, and remote start.
Standard features will include performance tuned suspension, performance disc brakes, performance tuned steering calibration, Uconnect voice command with Bluetooth, Console mounted USB port with iPod control and auxiliary audio input jack, Sirius XM satellite radio with 12 month subscription, automatic headlamps, LED illuminated instrument cluster with 160 MPH primary speedometer, and an instrument panel with mini-carbon bezel.
The R/T plus will add these features; heated front seats, six Boston Acoustics premium speakers with 276 watt amplifier, ParkSense rear park assist, power heated mirrors, electronic vehicle information center with temperature gauge, location specific tire pressure monitoring and compass, vehicle security alarm, and HomeLink universal receiver.
Performance of the R/T lags behind the Mustang and Camaro, with an acceleration of 5.5 seconds 0 – 60, whereas the Mustang 5.0L does it in under 5 and the Camaro 1SS 6.2L is right at 5 seconds.
The 2013 Dodge Challenger R/T Redline is available for order and deliveries will begin in April, 2013. Price tag for the base model is $31,990 and for the R/T plus it will cost you $33,990.
